Welcome to Village Greens Swim Team!

WE ARE SO HAPPY THAT YOU’RE HERE

Village Greens is all about making lifelong memories while learning how to swim or improve your swim skills. We compete with four different clubs around the island during the whole summer. No matter age or skill level, we would love to have you as a part of our family. This year our friends at Hillside, Richmond County, Great Kills, & South Shore will be joining us at our club for Championships. Welcome to Interclub and welcome to the VG family!

FAQs

  • Any child wanting to join our team has to be able to swim ONE LENGTH of the pool, without touching the floor or wall.

  • We allow registration fees to be delayed for the first week to make sure this is right for you! We understand swimming isn’t for everyone (even Coach Ryann’s dad can’t swim!)

  • During registration, your phone number will be added to our VG GroupMe. Our VG Facebook will also be mentioned for you to join to see important notifications too!

  • Practice is Monday through Friday from 5:30 pm to 7:15 pm. Practice will not be on days that we have SWIM meets, however that does not apply when there is a dive meet. If there is a meet on a swim meet on a Friday there is NO practice later that day!

  • During the time school is still open, dive practice will take place during swim practice. We will split up the practices and give you a set time once we know for sure. Once school is over, our diving coach will provide you with a time which will take place in the morning for dive practice.

  • We usually start practice in the middle of June! Once we know for sure the exact date we will post it!

  • Our fee allows you to a part of both the swimming and diving team for the whole season. (Whether you would like to swim or dive or DO BOTH, it is the same fee.) The fee also includes our team shirt and team cap AND our two parties that we have which swimmers & divers eat for free!

  • Practice is not mandatory. You do not need to let us know if you are not coming to practice. Enjoy your summer!

  • Prior to our first meet, registration will be open. Once we know the exact date of the first meet we will post it!

  • Meets start at 9 am, with warmups being at either 8 or 8:30 am, and usually end by 12/1 pm. It is required of you to stay for the whole meet. If you need to leave before the meet is over we understand but need to be aware before the meet.

  • It is required of 12 parents to time during the meet. Swimmers should be present with a positive attitude cheering on their teammates!

  • Bring your swim suit, towel, goggles, cap & WATER

  • We are a very close team and lots of us carpool! Ask one of the coaches or swimmers if you can get a ride with them!

  • Swimming at the meets are NOT mandatory. The only thing that is MANDATORY is letting the coaches know if you ARE or are NOT coming. We assume every swimmer will want to be in the meet and put everyone in!

  • To make champs each swimmer needs to make at least 4 meets. It could be either 4 swim, 4 dive, 2 dive or 2 swim as long as you have participated in 4 meets.

  • Contacting one of the swim coaches with questions is perfect. Reach out to them with any questions via GroupMe.
